Minister for Regional Development, Jaala Pulford, on the 9th January 2017 officially opened a new Product Innovation Science Lab Centre in Echuca, to complement E.B Mawson & Son’s Concrete and quarrying business.
The Andrews Labor Government has underwritten the development of the new centre, which will boost jobs and productivity, with a $75,000 grant from the Regional Jobs and Infrastructure Fund.
Funding will support construction, purchasing lab equipment systems, IT, and safety equipment, project management, design and approvals.
The new lab project, which will boost production, save costs, enable quicker response times and generate product innovation, will create 8 new full time jobs, bringing the company’s total workforce to 338.
The investment will provide a boost in business and construction for Echuca, which means more jobs for the region across the supply chain.
Construction is due to commence in February 2017, with completion expected by August 2017.
E.B. Mawson & Sons Proprietary Limited is a publicly listed company established in regional Victoria in 1912 with 13 quarry sites and 29 concrete plants across Victoria.
The new centre will enable Mawson’s to test and review materials, products and control measures for new and existing customers in Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia.
The Labor Government is getting on with supporting initiatives across regional and rural Victoria that build critical infrastructure, create jobs, help create dynamic communities and support new and emerging industries.
