Extractive Industry Training Package

The CMPA has worked in conjunction with a number of RTOs to provide quality resource materials to support a number of units which contribute to Certificates II and III in Extractive Industry Operations.

Certificate II in Surface Extractive Operations (RII20209)

The Certificate II in Extractive Industry Operations reflects the role of employees in a quarry or other extractive industries operations who undertake a prescribed range of functions involving known routines and procedures and who take some responsibility for the quality of work outcomes.

Requirements
Successful completion of eight units of competency made up of:

  • One mandatory unit of competency (Work Safely), and
  • Seven elective units of competency made up of:
    • All seven electives drawn from the extractive industry units
      OR
    • A minimum of five units drawn from the specified extractive industry units, and
    • Maximum of two units, relevant to the job function, drawn from the Certificate III in Extractive Industries Operations or from other endorsed training packages

Note: Level 2 First Aid can apply as one of the elective units. Working at Heights contributes to the Certificate as one of a maximum of two units from other endorsed training packages.

Certificate III in Surface Extractive Operations (RII30109)

The Certificate III in Extractive Industries Operations reflects the role of employees in a quarry or other extractive industries operations who perform tasks involving a broad range of skilled applications applied in a wide variety of contexts, which may involve application of some discretion and judgement in selecting equipment, services or contingency measures

Requirements
Successful completion of fifteen units of competency made up of:

  • Eight units of competency satisfying the criteria for the Certificate II in Extractive Industries Operations
    PLUS
  • Seven elective units of competency made up of:
    • All seven electives drawn from the extractive industry units
      OR
    • A minimum of five units drawn from the specified extractive industry units, and
    • Maximum of two units, relevant to the job function, drawn from the Certificate IV in Extractive Industries Operations or from other endorsed training packages

Note: The elective units of competency chosen to satisfy the Certificate III in Extractive Industries Operations must be additional to the units of competency achieved to satisfy the Certificate II in Extractive Industries Operations.
