MSHA (USA) Issues 2 close call alerts

Dozer operator runs over pickup truck

The Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) issued a Close Call Alert following an a dozer operator running over a parked pickup truck at a surface limestone operation. The pickup truck driver attempted to drive closer to the dozer rather than parking next to the conveyor and got stuck in the loose gravel. The driver stepped out of the pickup truck, trying to free it, and was motioning the dozer operator when it ran over the truck. Luckily, no one was hurt. (Source: Aggregates Manager).

Loader struck by rock

A loader operator at a sand and gravel operation was loading out material from the toe of the highwall. As the miner finished filling the bucket, a rock came off the highwall and struck the bucket. The rock damaged the rock guard, smashed the fender into the tire, knocked the work light off and came to rest against the cab, damaging the window.   (Source: Aggregates Research).
